Company history
MIS Pipelines has a 20 year long history in the construction industry. It officially opened its doors in November 1997 as a Close Corporation and changed to a (PTY) Ltd in 2004 due to financial + regulatory reasons. Ever since MIS has experienced exponential growth and expansion, which was structured to not only be sustainable but also stable.
Even with a solid reputation for delivery, change was inevitable, with the rigid enforcement of empowerment initiatives, the customers of MIS Pipelines required that the company transform to reflect the socio economic diversity of the country and comply with the Construction Empowerment Charter. In July 2007, after an exhaustive negotiation process Shaun Pillay agreed to buy-in to the company and became a 26% shareholder. Shaun always saw potential in the company and predicted that he would own the company outright one day. In May 2011 that dream became a reality and Shaun bought out the remaining partners to become MIS Pipelines sole shareholder and in March 2013, sold 1% of his shareholding to Sumantha Pillay, the companies Finance Director, for the purposes of continuation and empowerment. Sumantha Pillay’s shareholding has grown steadily since then to a significant 51% to date.This transfer of equity has now ensured that MIS Pipelines is not only one of the largest black owned pipeline contractors in Gauteng but also black women owned.
MIS Pipelines has grown rapidly from its inception, this can be attributed to the fact that the company has always stuck to its core services. The company specialises in the installation of all types of water, sewer and storm water mains, whether primary or secondary. This focus and attention to details has seen MIS Pipelines become one of the most respected contractors in the industry and a trusted supplier to its customers.
The company has an enviable track record of creating value and employment in the country, starting in 1997 with 2 employees the company can now boast more than 60 full time employees and more than 250 contract employees with a sizable asset base and comprehensive fleet of heavy duty construction vehicles and yellow plant.
