BBBEE

Procurement

To support the BB-BEE initiative in the country and to add impetus to transformation of the construction industry, MIS Pipelines has instituted a policy to only procure products and services from companies that are BB-BEE certified level 3 and higher. This policy not only ensures that MIS Pipelines meets its own empowerment requirements but drives change in its suppliers.

Social investment (community building)

MIS Pipelines understands that the communities it serves are vital to its continued success and as a result the company tries to give back wherever it can. The following are some of the contributions it has made:

  • Leveling of the Westbury community soccer field;
  • Supplied paint to revamp the Westbury Primary School;
  • Construction work at a church in Buccleuch.
  • Leveling of a soccer field in Riverlea.
  • Donations of fenced off areas in Stretford and Meadowlands for local use.
  • Soccer tournaments sponsorships in Hammanskraal

Apart from the above, we have also conducted numerous formal training of which some examples are listed below.

Socio economic development

MIS Pipelines has a strong social conscience and believes in contributing to the development of up and coming companies within the areas we work where possible. The company actively engages with these companies to not only provide them business opportunities but guidance and mentorship as well. As a result, these companies are exemplary examples within their competitive spaces.

Commitment to Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment

MIS Pipelines regards itself as a “New generation South African Company”, wholly committed to transformation goals and objectives. We see transformation as a strategic business imperative and an opportunity for further growth and development in line with the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, the Employment Equity Act and the draft industry charters.

To this end, MIS Pipelines is 100% South African and 100% black owned and 51% black women owned. In pursuance of the socio- economic empowerment initiatives of the country, we have embraced the BB-BEE charter. This is why BEE is supported and practiced within all we do, further showing our commitment to fostering sustainable empowerment to our customers, suppliers and employees.

Under the BB-BEE codes of practice issued by the Department of Trade and Industry, MIS Pipelines is compelled to comply with the generic balance scorecard. Under these codes, MIS Pipelines is certified as a ‘level Two contributor’ which has a BB-BEE procurement recognition level of 125%. MIS Pipelines has received a formal rating certificate attesting to this fact.

We however do not see this as the end of our transformation programme but the beginning. MIS Pipelines is committed to building the economy of South Africa by creating opportunities for other Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises to flourish. We believe that it is the spirit of the BB-BEE charter that compels us to do more than what is legislatively required. We believe that it is morally appropriate and emotionally rewarding to do so and that, in so doing, we are contributing to the country’s prosperity and stability.
